Sixteen year old Blair Kirkland joined Platinum Dance Studio 2 years ago. She has been dancing practically her entire life, starting at the tender age of 2! Blair is very proud of all she has accomplished so far, including the awards she received for her high school dance team – “Most Versatile Dancer” and “Best Jazz Dancer”. Needless to say, her favorite style of dance is Jazz. In 2007, at age 11, Blair won a national title in a pageant from Sunshine Productions. She is looking forward to competing with her team this season and is excited to see how all the dancers turn out on stage.
On the rare occasions when she’s not dancing, Blair enjoys shopping and hanging out with her friends. She loves painting and making crafts. She also enjoys cosmetology. Her favorite TV shows are “Dance Moms” and “Gravity Falls”. Blair loves eating Mexican, Chinese, and Japanese food and her favorite restaurant is “Wasabi”. Blair considers herself hardworking, outgoing, and stubborn. She is a self-proclaimed perfectionist who is very hard on herself at times. She mentions, with a smile, that she is also a princess!
Blair has learned something very important from Platinum – what it means to be a family and to care about each other. She explains why she feels Platinum is different from all the other studios in the area. “Winning isn’t everything. If you win everything and you aren’t a family and you don’t support one another, what do you have?” Blair says Platinum supports everybody no matter what. When a Platinum dancer steps on stage they know they have a fan club in the audience and wonderful caring coaches in the wings to cheer them on! She adds, “We have fun no matter what we are doing and we all bond as a team. I wouldn’t trade my team or my coaches for anything!”
Blair also wants to add that she is a very dedicated dancer. She dances not only for her high school team but for our studio’s competitive team as well. She has sacrificed a lot for dance: missing Friday night football games; not hanging out as much with friends; and not doing all the other things every normal teenager does. But Blair is happy to say that she wouldn’t trade her busy lifestyle for anything – she loves spending every day at the studio!
